A bit of good news
University of Waterloo President David Johnston has agreed to provide me with a letter of reference, largely for my years of volunteerism on his campus. This is good (and somewhat unexpected) news. Asking for what you want is not the worst strategy, it seems. Thanks for appreciating me, President Johnston.

That's great news! Wow I guess you don't need to win UW's President's Circle Award for Volunteerism to be "in the president's circle." Are you sure that's the only strategy you used? ;) You've been known to use your Jedi powers on more than one occasion.
