New laptop, ch-ch-changes...

Last day of work at Geoware was technically last Friday. Last day of actual work was Thursday.

I asked about buying out the lease on my work laptop, an IBM ThinkPad R40. 8GB of hard drive space, a few years old. Found out the cost on Friday: $980 inclusive. Within two hours I had headed down to UW's Campus TechShop to pick up a new model.

Lenovo C100, 80GB hard drive, 512MB RAM, wireless, 15", brand new. Pricetag on the model said $649+, but I took it home for $549+. It does pay to do your homework. :)

Partied in Waterloo on Friday night with Paul and Asia, partially celebrating the birth of Pranalife. Their house, followed by the Jane Bond, followed by dancing until close at the Starlight, followed by three-to-a-bed at their place overnight and breakfast at the Checkerboard. It was a great excursion, much needed.

Partied in Toronto on Saturday night for Bryan's birthday, which you can read more of here.

But also still getting work done: two Op. Research assignments and one Econ assigment, and studying for upcoming tests and quizzes. Plus I have to do a bit more work on Catalyst this weekend.

Hallo

Ultimate frisbee team won again tonight ... not too shabby considering the "Jello Shot" birthday party at two of the team members' house last night.

Otherwise this weekend was lots of work -- MSSA president stuff, some chilling out, some real schoolwork.

Now THAT, that my friends is a student centre!

Your weekend update...

Still living in my own little bubble a bit, but it's for good reason as my life gets sorted out a bit.

Gave notice at work, so I'll no longer be working in accounts at Geoware by the time Thanksgiving rolls around. They retooled my schedule in a way that wasn't acceptable, and gave half my accounts that I have spent months working with to someone else. So, time to leave, and get myself re-calibrated to focus on school...

Which is good, because I now have to hire the TA's that I will be overseeing, as well as the business manager for the magazine. Oh, and I was 'elected' as the president of the Management Sciences Student Association, starting immediately, so I began getting my new team up and running. It will be a real pleasure working with the MSSA this year I think, I am definitely looking forward to it.

Otherwise, I'm in a perpetual state of "am I getting everything done right?" and I still have a few important hurdles to plan for. (ahem: thesis)

Also, my ultimate frisbee team is doing well - won decisively tonight! - and at the party after I realized that somebody I knew from GRADE SCHOOL is on the team now! Weird stuff...

I love grad school

Day three and I'm keeping my head above water still ... so much has happened in so short a time. One of my favourites was a message I got just now:

"Dear Professor,

I am a student in Systems Design currently considering taking my msci option.

I have a few questions I was hoping you could answer as you were listed as the
co-ordinator of this option.

Firstly, there are the 4 main requisities..."

and the message goes on from there.

Hehehehe, grad school is fun.
